The interior alone of the oldest German pub in Darmstadt (since 1795) makes a gem out of this restaurant, which already has a long history. In 1580 the "Bockshaut" was founded as a tannery. In 1795 it was transformed into a wine tavern and restaurant, and the sign of the guild, i.e. the skin of a he-goat("Bockshaut"), was chosen as the name for this tavern. Today you can enjoy Hessian tradition in the stylish restaurant, in various banquet rooms or, when the weather is fine, on the cosy terraceunder a vine bower.

Due to its central location most of the attractions of the city can be reached in 3-5 walking minutes. The county museum of Hesse and the House of the History of the City as well as the beautiful park "Herrngarten" are located near to the hotel. The theatre and the catholic church St. Ludwig as well as the regional council are also nearby. Those who are on a business trip have easy access to the main building of the technical university and the Fraunhofer Institut as well as the newly built congress centre "Darmstadium".
